Auyuittuq w jezyku Inuitow oznacza "kraine ktora nigdy nie topnieje". Jest to rowniez nazwa jednego z wiekszych parkow narodowych Kanady polozonego we wshodniej czesci wyspy Ziemia Baffina, toz poza kregiem polarnym. Malownicze gory polwyspu Cumberland to dzielo lodowcow ktore wyzezbily wysokie granitowe sciany i dlogie, krete doliny. Penny Ice Cap. Jest to "czapa" lodowa, ktora jest pozostaloscia wielkiego lodowca. Podczas ostatniego zlodowacenia, okolo 18 tysiecy lat temu lodowiec ten pokrywal kilkuset metrowa warstwa lodu tereny niemalze calej obecnej Kanady.

Auyuittuq in Inuit language means "Land that never melts". This is also the name of one of the biggest National Parks in Canada located on the central-east coast of Baffin Island. The mountains of the Cumberland Peninsula and the east coast have been deeply carved by glacial erosion, creating sharp valleys with towering granite cliffs and towers. The main attraction in the park is the Aksayook Pass. Roughly 90 km. in length, it traverses the peninsula from north to south and boats some of the highest cliff faces in the world. A large part of the area is covered by the Penny Ice Cap, a remnant of the Laurentide Ice Sheet which extended over most of Canada east of Rocky Mountains about 18,000 years ago.
